Wind Residential

Wind Energy for your home

Wind power is a quiet, clean and reliable option for alternative energy sources. Wind power is the conversion of wind energy using turbines, which transforms the kinetic energy into mechanical power. Whether you are harnessing wind energy
and storing it or working in tandem with the utility grid, wind provides free and clean energy. Wind energy is great for "going green" and can also offer Net Billing. Net Billing is an arrangement where the Utility company pays you per/KWh for any production over and above your consumption by credit to bill in most cases.

Steps to a efficient wind energy system

  • What is your energy usage
Work with your local energy provider to determine what your usage has been for the past three years. One year will work but the more years the better do to climate change.

  • Enhance your energy efficiency
Take a look around your home and identify the energy hogs. Typically anything that heats or cools will be the biggest consumers of electricity. Check these items and see if they have the energy star, if not think about replacing them. Check those light bulbs change them to CFL's and get the same light but less consumption. There is incentives for these items in most cases.

  • The best wind energy system for you
Choose whether you would like to stay "on grid" using the wind energy system as a supplement . Or go "off grid" and become totally reliant on the wind energy system.

  • Review your site and wind turbine size
Determine where you would like to place your new wind turbine. Staying on grid will be a smaller turbine as going off grid can be much larger. Your wind turbine will most likely be tower mounted. There are two types of towers, free standing and guyed. Free standing will take a lot less room but cost a little more. A guyed tower will need plenty of are to install anchors. This will depend on height, the taller the tower the more spread out the anchors will be. We will help you determine the area and size of the turbine needed to meet you expectations.
